Portrait Tips |
 |
|
Here are a
few tips to consider before your session:
Clothing:
Remember the real focal point of any portrait is
the face.
Avoid clothing with large prints or patterns.
Let your wardrobe enhance your portrait—not
overpower it!
Outdoor photography? Consider casual outfits in
earth tones or jeans.
Formal portrait? Middle tones or deeper solids
colors work best.
Long-sleeved shirts or sweaters look better than
short sleeves.
If you prefer a light background, white or
pastel-colored clothing is preferred. Hair:
Wear your hair in a style that you’re
comfortable with.
Avoid getting a haircut just before your
sitting.
Guys! A fresh shave is a must. Beards or
mustaches should be neatly trimmed. Makeup and Accessories:
Makeup should be natural and fresh.
Avoid wearing your makeup heavier than usual.
Keep jewelry and other accessories simple.
If you wear glasses every day, wear them in your
portrait. Babies:
Choose comfortable clothing, perhaps tied to an
event—christening, birthday, etc.
Avoid busy prints or bold colors.
Bring a suitable toy, doll, or memento to serve
as a prop:
it adds to the individuality of the portrait.
Be sure the baby has napped before the session.
