JE Stewart Biography

 

Joan Stewart has been creating award-winning images of children, families and pets for nearly twenty years. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Photography degree, a Photographic Craftsman degree, and is a Certified Professional Photographer. Her images have been displayed and judged internationally, and have been selected for exhibition in the prestigious Professional Photographers of America Loan 
Collection, and the ASP Traveling 100. Joan has won many awards in state and local competition, and numerous images have been selected for publication in PPA coffee-table collections.

Joan currently serves as vice-president on the Board of Directors for the Triangle Photographers Association. The Triangle Photographers Association is comprised of professional photographers from Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, and is dedicated to education, promotion, and excellence in professional photography. Joan resides in Cranberry Township with her husband, Gregg, three children, seven Labrador Retrievers, eight chickens, two cats and a lop-eared bunny.

Joan Stewart was recently named Imager of the Year by the Triangle Photographer’s AssociationJoan Stewart of J.E. Stewart Photography in Cranberry Township was recently named Imager of the Year by the Triangle Photographer's Association. This award is presented to the photographer with the highest total print score in the Association's annual print competition. Stewart's four entries, "Nine Lives" , a portrait of nine chocolate Labrador puppies, "The Gatekeeper", an image of 3-year-old Olivia Girdis, "A Moment of Stillness", a ballet image of Alexandra Sansosti, and "Beauty and Her Beast", a location image of her daughter Jaimee Stewart and horse, Gunther, were judged by a national panel affiliated with the Professional Photographers of America. "Nine Lives" was also awarded the Master's Trophy and the Best Portrait Trophy.

The Triangle Photographer's Association is made up of over a hundred professional studios located in the tri-state area of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. Its mission is to meet the needs of the photographic profession and to be a leader in education. Stewart also serves on the Triangle board and is the current president.
